Public Art

My work relies on audience interaction, and I wanted to challenge myself to approach this relationship differently. Usually, I’m there when my audience plays with my art, but my sculpture at the Sculpture Trail Outdoor Museum is on its own. And with public art, it is based on trust. Given this opportunity to create with a group of interns on site, it was all trust. Irons pours are always a team effort; you’re trusting your team with your safety, your life. I’m grateful to have my sculpture on the trail for a time. It’s wonderful to imagine how it will change physically and in presentation with the seasons. If people will even be able to see it in the fall. My sculpture is of characters from Battles in Limbo. I enjoy that they’re frozen in iron, limbo forever.
